Motion for Discovery Requests needs to be filed with the Municipal Court.  The Record Requests form (below) is to be used for only police and accident reports taken by the Weston Police Department.
RECORDS REQUEST :
By law, certain records may be open upon request to certain individuals but closed to the general public.   Please state your interest in the records requested (such as general public, party, or representative of a party to an accident, victim, etc.) so that we may determine whether those records if closed to the public, may be available to you.
The Weston Police Department only accepts faxed or email requests from Government agencies for records, and will not respond to requests by e-mail from a private person or business.
Requests for records may take up to 20 business days to process.   Please do not call to check the status of your request until 20 business days after your request was submitted.

Once you have completed the form, you can send the form by mail to the Weston Missouri Police Department Custodian of Records, or by fax.

  • Once a request for a report(s) is received and processed, an invoice will be sent to the requestor via email (if provided), or by mail notifying you the request for a report(s) is completed and ready for release.   When payment is not required, the records will be sent by mail or may be picked up at the police station.   Reports may also be e-mailed to the requestor upon request.
  • The cost for an Incident or Crime report is $10.00.   Accident reports are $5.00.    If photo(s) are associated with the requested record, it is an additional $5.00 for a CD containing the photos.    Photo requests may be placed on a CD, printed on plain paper or on photo paper, or as a PDF file.    When payment, in the form of a personal check, money order, cashier's check, or business check, is received by the Weston Police Department, the records will be released to the requestor once the check has cleared the associated banking institution.
  • In accordance with Section 610.023, RSMo, public records may be reviewed prior to purchase or copying.   In order to review records, a records request will need to be submitted.   Once you have been notified by the Weston Police Department the records are ready for review, then call 816-640-2455 to set up an appointment.
  • Requests are processed in the order they are received.   Some records may take longer than others to process; for example, archived reports (reports that are older than five years), active investigations, or complicated cases that require legal review before release.
  • Please note the City of Weston has in the past followed the Municipal Records Retention Schedule set by Missouri Statutes, so some records may have been destroyed.   If you requested such a report/incident you will be notified of such a destroyed record.   Any and all fees will be returned to the requestor.
  • Please allow 15 to 20business days for your request to be processed.
Please do not call to check the status until 20 business days after your request was submitted.
